“There’s a cowboy on every corner down in Brunswick Street.”
“Cowboy” is the first single from Kristen Lee Morris upcoming solo album, HILLBILLY BLUES (Due Oct. 5).Â
Back in 2013 Morris walked into a local songwriter night and had a life altering collision with Bill Chambers. The history since answers the question “What happens when a smart arse blues player walks into a bluegrass jam?” In short an instant friendship was made, genres were disregarded, jams were had, a critically acclaimed solo record was made (RUINS, 2014 – produced by Kasey Chambers), a magical band was formed (with his partner, Sarah Humphreys, Eagle & The Wolf) and recorded a kickass record (4 stars Rolling Stone and tonnes of airplay), thousands of road miles were travelled (with Charlie Parr, Kasey Chambers, Hayes Carll, The Fumes etc), a little Eagle & The Wolf baby was born, and now the next chapter, HILLBILLY BLUES, shows Morris in red-hot form, full of confidence and having fun.
HILLBILLY BLUES was produced by Bill Chambers and Morris with a live band (Jeff McCormack, Sarah Humphreys, Josh Dufficy). It’s a natural continuation of RUINS (2014) and Eagle & The Wolf (2016). If you like JJ Cale, Tony Joe White, Ry Cooder, Steve Earle and/or Lucinda Williams you’ll love it.
Morris hits the road August and September to promote the single with a national tour to follow with the album release in October and November.
