Hillbilly Blues is the new solo record by country & blues guitarist Kristen Lee Morris (Eagle & The Wolf). Produced by Bill Chambers & Morris it captures a slice of the 70’s with riffs, hooks, boogie and heartbreak. The record features his partner from Eagle & The Wolf, Sarah Humphreys, channelling all her soul power. Recorded live you hear every little bit of heart that was committed to tape. Hillbilly Blues is out October 5 accompanied by a national tour.

Back in 2013 Morris walked into a local songwriter night and had a life altering collision with Bill Chambers. The history since answers the question “What happens when a smart arse blues player walks into a bluegrass jam?” In short an instant friendship was made, genres were disregarded, jams were had, a critically acclaimed solo record was made (RUINS, 2014 – produced by Kasey Chambers), a magical band was formed (with his partner, Sarah Humphreys, Eagle & The Wolf) and recorded a kickass record (4 stars Rolling Stone and tonnes of airplay), thousands of road miles were travelled (with Charlie Parr, Kasey Chambers, Hayes Carll, The Fumes etc), a little Eagle & The Wolf baby was born, and now the next chapter, HILLBILLY BLUES, shows Morris in red-hot form, full of confidence and having fun.
HILLBILLY BLUES was produced by Bill Chambers and Morris with a live band (Jeff McCormack, Sarah Humphreys, Josh Dufficy). It’s a natural continuation of RUINS (2014) and Eagle & The Wolf (2016). If you like JJ Cale, Tony Joe White, Ry Cooder, Steve Earle and/or Lucinda Williams you’ll love it.
